What Changed in 2026: Tighter Scrutiny of Medical Cannabis Producers
In February 2026, North Macedonia's Ministry of Interior reported large-scale inspections of legal entities connected with pharmaceutical plant cultivation. Authorities said they seized about nine tonnes of marijuana and more than 1,300 bottles of produced cannabis oil from one legal entity in Skopje, plus more than 31 tonnes of marijuana and biomass from legal entities in the eastern region.
The Ministry said the inspections were coordinated with Customs and the relevant Ministry of Health commission. The operation became one of the most significant 2026 developments affecting North Macedonia's licensed medical cannabis sector.
